Setting up Media Center Outlook

Before you can use Media Center Outlook, you first have to configure it.
You can do this by pressing the Windows Start button, navigating to the menu called OABsoftware / Vista Media Center Outlook and clicking the icon called "Vista Media Center Outlook Configuration".

When you click this icon, the configuration application of Media Center Outlook will appear:

In this window you see an overview of the configuration.

The first thing you can do here is configure the general settings:

  • Whether you want a notification to be shown within Media Center, whenever new e-mails are received
  • The name of the sound file that should be played when new e-mails are received
  • Whether you want a notification to be shown within Media Center, whenever you should be reminded of upcoming appointments
  • The name of the sound file that should be played as a reminder of upcoming appointments
  • Whether you want to use computer assisted telephony to dial contacts (via TAPI)
  • The (TAPI) device via which outgoing phonecalls should be initiated

Press the button in the toolbar for saving the changes you make in this part of the configuration.

In the left part of the window you see an overview of the Outlook profiles you defined through the Mail option in the Windows Control Panel.
When you select one of the profiles, you can specify a picture that represents the profile:

When you're ready defining your configuration, you can press the button in the toolbar to save it.

Finally, a few words about receiving new e-mail.
Media Center Outlook is not capable of forcing Outlook to check whether new mail was received.
So, if you want notifications of new e-mails to be displayed on your Media Center TV, please keep Microsoft Outlook running in the background!
